ME: Mother, wife, friend, daughter, ex hairdresser, qualified (but not time served) beautician, customer service advisor and keen (but not very good) craft enthusiast....that's me!! 

I'm reproductively challenged, but thanks to the wonders of IVF, I have the most awesomely nuts little monster (this is a term of endearment!!)  and my world revolves around her. 

MY LIFE: The B and I (my hubby) have been together for nearly 15 years and have been married for 9 1/2 years.  I'm not entirely sure how, but we have one of those relationships where we don't have a vast amount in common but it totally works.  

OUR FAMILY: Kids don't come with an instruction manual so as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I started keeping notes of any good ideas or tips I came across.  The B and I managed to make it through the first 3 1/2 years pretty easily and now we're paying for it!  I can give you some pretty good and helpful advice on how to deal with many issues with babies, 1 year olds and even the 'terrible twos'...but that's where it ends!!  These days, if we're all still alive at the end of the day, then the day has been a success!! 

MY HOBBIES: I absolutely love most things crafty!  I'm really into baking, jewelry making, planning kids parties, homemade party favors and have more recently been getting into homemade skincare and cleaning lotions and potions in a bid to save my family some money!

WHAT I BRING TO A FRIENDSHIP: I'm a handy person to know and an amazing friend - even if I do say so myself!  As a parent, I can offer advice and support with kids illnesses – I’ve lost count of the number of late night telephone calls I’ve gotten saying ‘my kid has chicken pox what do I do?’  I'm an ex-hairdresser and this often leads to people asking for help with their hair and make up or what to wear on Saturday night!  I also used to work in customer services dealing with high level complaints and have helped friends and family members deal raise disputes when they've been unfairly treated, I’ve even contacted friends of family members to help them when I’ve heard stories about their experiences!!  Some of the successes I’ve had so far include an engagement ring being replaced free of charge with a new 10 year guarantee, PPI claims have been paid and as I wrote the letters on my pal’s behalf, no solicitors or claims companies were involved so there were no fees to pay!  I’ve also helped a friend get a full years’ worth of electricity charges wiped off her account!!  Yea, so like I said…I’m a good friend!

LIFE EXPERIENCES:  I’ve been through a lot in the last few years, I’ve struggled with fertility issues, live in constant pain due to neck problems and suffer with depression.  I’ve experienced the joys of parenthood and the lows of losing loved ones to suicide.  I’d be more than happy for you to contact me either on here, my Facebook page www.facebook.om/thebliehairedgirl or my personal emailthebluehairedgirl@virginmedia.com

WHY I'M STARTING THIS BLOG: In my attempts to both tackle positive and successful parenting and save money, I have been reading more and more blogs.  Thanks mainly to Pintrest, I've found quite a few good ones advocating a 'Frugal' lifestyle (I'll be posting links to some of my favorites soon!) but I haven't come across a great deal of blogs addressing parenting techniques.  Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but most of what I've found are articles written by child care professionals.  I don't doubt their credibility in anyway, I just feel a lot easier (and a lot less guilty) sharing my experiences and worries with other parents that with people whose job it is to know better, so I decided to start my own blog in the hope that sharing my life experiences might help you and that your life experiences might help me!!  Let me know you're thoughts and/or views on any or all of my posts.  Let me know how you deal with accidentally dying your hair green or how your kid likes to lick everything and everyone (seriously…I need to know how to stop my kid from doing this!!)  I only ask that any criticism be constructive.  I'm happy enough for you to tell me I'm wrong - just make sure you tell me how I'm wrong and how you suggest it be put right.  I'm not saying I'll agree with you, I just don't like unnecessary negativity.

JOG ON HATERS!!: I'm a vegetarian with blue hair and tattoos and for some reason that sometimes makes people think they have the right to tell me I'm a bad mother or person when they don't know anything about me.  Let’s get 1 thing straight from the start, THAT IS NOT OK!!  If you don't like me, what I stand for or what I have to say, don't read it!!  Anyone who posts disrespectful comments either on my posts or comments left by others, will find themselves removed!!  Treat people the way you expect to be treated.
